lusee

YOUR MACHINE. YOUR DESKTOP.

Lusee OS

A browser desktop for your Linux machine, with files, terminals, editors, and installable extensions.

Install on Ubuntu

Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, x86-64 or ARM64, running systemd. Use an existing Linux login account with sudo access and a password for PAM sign-in.

curl -fsSL https://lusee.ai/releases/lusee-os/install.sh | bash

The installer downloads a checksummed release, installs dependencies and VS Code Studio, and enables the lusee-os service at boot. Installation needs internet access.

Open http://localhost:3656 on that machine and sign in with your Linux account. Your machine password stays on your machine.

Review before installing

curl -fsSLO https://lusee.ai/releases/lusee-os/install.sh
less install.sh
bash install.sh

When running as root, choose the account explicitly: bash install.sh --user your-user. To choose a release, add --version VERSION. Running the installer with a newer version upgrades the service and keeps its data.

Access a remote machine

ssh -L 3656:127.0.0.1:3656 your-user@your-host

Then open http://localhost:3656 on your computer. LOS listens on loopback by default. A configured HTTPS reverse proxy can provide browser access without the SSH tunnel.

Manage the service

sudo systemctl status lusee-os
sudo systemctl restart lusee-os
sudo journalctl -u lusee-os

This release supports one Linux account per installation. Extension backends require working Bubblewrap user namespaces; installations keep isolation fail-closed when the host blocks them.
